Laurel meets The Girls
Laurel’s mom strength was pretty special to see. She scooted from recovery bed to her extended stay bed and a few hours later was able to stand. We rounded up a wheelchair and with catheter and IV in hand we rolled down to meet the girls.
And we decided on names.

Our first visit was pretty uneventful as we mostly tried to observe and absorb the medical jargon. The babies are so, so strong and so, so frail. They can’t really breathe on their own, and the goal is to keep them oxygenated and full of nutrition. Simple goals but they have been through countless procedures, tweaks, adjustments and more. The team is really just trying to find the sweet spot where the girls are comfortable and getting all the necessary stuff.
They are so small.
They are so small.
They are so small.
And so precious.
We got to hear them cry! I am sure at some point, in a fit of emotions, a screaming kid will feel like nails on a chalkboard, but I hope I never forget how I felt when one cried and the other cried back.
